Spatial Significance Analysis of the Louvre

Step 1: Where is this location based on natural and or human characteristics? (What is Where?)

The Louvre is located in the centre of Paris, France. It is one of the main landmarks in the city, and is also a historic monument.

Step 2: What is unique about it? (Why There?)

It was originally built as a fortress in 1190. Since then it has served as a royal palace and was turned into a museum in 1793. Many of the pieces contained in the museum were protected during the Nazi invasion in WWII by shipping them to remote corners of the French countryside.

Step 3: Why would someone want to visit this location? To whom would this location be significant? (Why Care?)

The Louvre is currently the world’s largest museum with over 380,000 pieces in its collection, including the Mona Lisa by Leonardo da Vinci, and the Venus de Milo statue.
