DESCRIPTION OF INTERACTIVE

Consider each of the descriptions of four different natural and human events.

Scenario 1: Wildfire - A wildfire has engulfed part of a forest. Bright orange flames cover the forest floor and climb the trees.

Scenario 2: River Flooding - A flooded river has spilled its banks and deep water is moving rapidly within a residential area.

Scenario 3: Residential Development - A yellow earth moving machine on site in a new real estate subdivision is clearing land for housing. Apartment buildings can be seen in the background.

Scenario 4: Tourism - A gondola system has been installed on a mountain which overlooks an ocean inlet.

For each event, provide the following:

• a title for and a description of the event
• a list of possible causes for the event
• a set of positive impacts of the event on the ecosystem
• a set of negative impacts of the event on the ecosystem

Change is constant and both physical and human elements cause these changes. One thing is for certain, our ecosystems are ever evolving and adapting.
