DESCRIPTION OF INTERACTIVE

Visual Spatial

Visual learners prefer using images, pictures, colours, and maps to organize information and help them learn.  They remember what they read and write and enjoy visual projects and presentations.  Do you find that when you read or see something being done, you have an easier time remembering the information?

Aural (Auditory-Musical)

Aural learners prefer to use sound and music to help them learn. They understand musical structure and rhythm.  They remember what they hear and say, can remember oral instructions well and enjoy classroom and small-group discussion.  Do you retain information more easily if you read it out loud to yourself?

Verbal (Linguistic)

Verbal learners prefer to use words both in speech and writing.  They learn best when reading, speaking or listening to information.  A great study strategy for Verbal learners is to re-write what they read or learn in their own words.  These learners do well in debates and public speaking.  Do you enjoy playing with words, tongue twisters or rhymes?

Physical (Kinesthetic)

Physical learners prefer to use their hands to work through a new skill or topic. They prefer to play with the physical parts rather than listen to someone explain something to them. They may have a hard time sitting for long periods of time. They tend to fidget or get up and move. Are you at your best when you are moving, doing or having a hands-on experience?

Logical (Mathematical)

Logical thinkers prefer using reason and logic. They tend to seek out more detail behind the material they need to know and explore various links between systems and note them down. Logical learners do well with recognising patterns, maths and logical reasoning. Do you find that making lists and creating order helps your learning?

Social (Interpersonal)

Social learners prefer to learn in groups or with other people. They absorb information best when they are bouncing thoughts and information off other people and listening to how they respond. Social learners might prefer to stay around after class and talk with other and engage in social activities, rather than doing their own thing. Do you have a study buddy or someone that quizzes you?

Solitary (Intrapersonal)

Solitary learners prefer to work alone. They tend to be in touch with their own feelings, values and ideas. They may be more reserved, but they are quite instinctive about what they learn and how it relates to them.  They are more private and independent and enjoy a peaceful moment alone with their thoughts. Do you find that you do best when you are not working with others?
