Amina was thrilled when she landed her first job at a small accounting firm in a big city. One week after Amina began work, her boss, Daniel, began making sexual comments towards her. Amina was growing increasingly uncomfortable with these comments and confronted Daniel.
Daniel told Amina that she was overreacting, and that if she wanted to be a cry baby then she could quit. Daniel also told Amina that he could help her get promoted in the company quickly if she kept her mouth shut.

Amina was concerned and didn’t know what to do. She badly needed this job to begin paying back her school loans, but she was also pretty sure that this behaviour qualified as sexual harassment. She knows that sexual harassment is a serious offence and thinks that she would have a good case in court.
When she confided in another work colleague named Natalia, she was told that Daniel was like this with all women. To make matters worse, Amina also learned that the accounting company was in financial trouble. Any bad press would indeed have a negative impact on potential clients and could cause the company to go bankrupt.
Amina is torn. She knows the law says that sexual harassment is wrong, but she could also move up in the company and get more experience to put on her résumé if she keeps quiet. She does not know what to do.
