Giraffe Proportions Investigation

For this investigation, you will need The Geometer's Sketchpad (GSP) software, installed on your computer.

This is an image of a giraffe.

  1. Open Giraffe Proportions.gsp sketch. Approximately what percent of the height of the giraffe is the length of its head and neck? Use a Stretchy Percent Ruler.
  2. Open sample answers 1 and 2. Use the tabs at the bottom left of the screen to compare Giraffe answer 1 and Giraffe answer 2. Answer the questions found there.
  3. Create a table similar to the one below.
