Parts of the Motor Neuron

Cell Body:

The collection centre of electrical impulses from the dendrites.

Axon:

The path the electrical impulse takes to the muscle fibre.

ž

Axon Terminal:

The very end of an axon, connecting to muscle fibres and other neurons (synapse).

ž

Dendrites:

Short branching fibres extended from the cell body. They receive incoming information.

žNucleus:

The control centre.

žMylein Sheath:

A fancy term for insulation that is created by Schwann Cells.

žNode of Ranvier:

Uninsulated sections on the axon that allow for communication.
